Synthesis of Three-Dimensionally Interconnected Hexagonal Boron Nitride Networked Cu-Ni Composite

A three-dimensionally interconnected hexagonal boron nitride (3Di-hBN) networked Cu-Ni (3DihBN-Cu-Ni) composite was successfully synthesized in situ using a simple two-step process which involved the compaction of mixed powders (70 wt.% Cu and 30 Ni) into disc followed by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) at 1000 <sup>o</sup>C. During MOCVD, alloy grains acted as template for growth (hBN) while decaborane ammonia were used precursors nitrogen, respectively. Boron nitrogen atoms diffused solution during MOCVD precipitated out along interfaces upon cooling, resulting formation 3Di hBN-Cu-Ni composite. Energy-dispersive spectroscopic analysis confirmed presence grains. Optical microscopy examination indicated that there minimum amount bulk hBN certain pressure (280 MPa) sintering time (30 min). Scanning electron transmission revealed an network layers surrounding developed 3Di-hBN-Cu-Ni This 3Di-hBN is expected to enhance mechanical, thermal, properties Moreover, foam-like extracted from could have further applications fields biomedicine energy storage.
